In October 2023, the CCPC published joint guidance with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for social media influencers regarding their legal obligations under consumer protection law. In early 2024, the CCPC contacted 26 influencers as part of a proactive compliance initiative to remind them of those obligations, with inspections and enforcement activity commencing thereafter.

The CCPC signed a data-sharing agreement with the ASA in 2025. The agreement enables the sharing of information received through the ASA's online reporting portal, where there is an appropriate legal basis, in accordance with data protection laws. This supports the CCPC in identifying potential breaches of consumer protection legislation.

The CCPC continues to closely monitor social media accounts within this sector for compliance with consumer protection legislation.
