3299. Deputy Pádraig O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health whether the HSE National Clinical Waste contract awarded in 2018 for a period of eight years will expire in 2026; whether the HSE intends to exercise the option to extend the contract for an additional two years or to conduct a new procurement competition; the timeline for that decision; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Under the Health Act 2004, the day-to-day operational responsibility for the management and delivery of health services is a matter for HSE. This query has therefore been referred to the HSE for direct reply to the Deputy.
