The Government is committed to advancing equality and inclusion for LGBTIQ+ people and to ensuring the highest standards of child safeguarding. The aim of the National LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Strategy II 2024 - 2028 is to promote equality and inclusion for LGBTIQ+ people. It does not override or qualify any statutory obligations, including those relating to child protection and welfare.

All Tusla registered early years services are required to comply with the relevant legislative and regulatory requirements governing child safeguarding. The safety, welfare and best interests of children remain paramount, and organisations providing services to children must fulfil their responsibilities under the Children First Act 2015 and associated Children First National Guidance.
