326. Deputy Brendan Smith asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Finance if prize bonds are subject to the criteria for dormant accounts. [68785/26]
View answerThe National Treasury Management Agency has informed me that the Dormant Accounts Act 2001 sets a requirement for all financial institutions to identify accounts or investments where no customer transactions have taken place for the past 15 years or more and to designate these accounts or investments as Dormant Accounts.
Prize Bonds are not treated as dormant investments for the purposes of the Dormant Accounts Act 2001. Prize Bonds remain included in the weekly Prize Bond draws until they are encashed.
