My Department’s role is to support the development of a competitive and sustainable enterprise sector and to provide for an appropriate legal and regulatory framework for business activity, including in areas such as company law, employment law, competition and consumer protection.

Decisions concerning the markets in which an enterprise operates, and how it presents or markets its services in those markets, are ultimately matters for the enterprise concerned, subject at all times to compliance with applicable Irish, EU and international legal obligations. More specifically, I note that the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has issued advice, available on its website, on investment in Israeli settlements in Occupied Palestinian Territory, setting out the risks related to economic and financial activities in the settlements, and making clear that the Government does not encourage or offer support in any way to such activity.
