Questions (121)

Matt Carthy

Question:

121. Deputy Matt Carthy asked the Minister for Transport the status of an application under the road transporters support scheme (RTSS) for a commercial coach operator (details supplied); the reason this application has faced a prolonged administrative backlog despite the applicant providing all required, tax-compliant documentation via the information portal over six weeks ago; the timeline for when this badly needed fuel assistance funding will be transferred to the applicant; and the steps his Department is taking to resolve the outstanding payment processing delay for hundreds of similarly affected transport operators. My Department received over 4,400 applications to the Road Transporters Support Scheme (RTSS) in respect of approximately 31,500 vehicles. As of 06 October 2026, all applications received during the original application window have been assessed and approved for payment, where appropriate.

I can confirm that the applicant whose details you have shared with me was contacted by officials from my Department on 02 October regarding their application.

A number of applications, including the one whose details you have shared with me, faced delays as they contained errors, were incomplete, or included duplicate information.

The Department is now preparing to launch the appeals portal. Officials from my Department will be in contact with all applicants with details of the appeals process once it goes live. Further information regarding the appeals process can be found on the Department’s website.
