Dignity and respect

The Dignity and Respect Statement of Principles outlines standards for respectful and safe behaviour within the Irish Parliament.

This applies to all of the parliamentary community in any parliamentary settings, such as Leinster House or constituency offices. It aims to prevent bullying, harassment, and sexual harassment.

The Dignity and Respect Policy provides a standard policy and dispute resolution procedures for Members to adopt used to ensure that the procedures for dealing with any issues arising under the Dignity and Respect Statement of Principles comply with relevant legal and standard codes of practice.

Civil Service staff follow a similar dignity policy, aligned with Irish codes on workplace bullying and harassment. Contractors and political correspondents are also expected to have anti-bullying and harassment measures in place.
