Equality, diversity and inclusion in the Oireachtas

A truly accessible and engaged parliament can only be achieved if we are all committed to building a diverse and representative parliamentary community, which is reflective of the society we represent.

As the national Parliament, we strive to be leaders in creating an environment where diversity is celebrated and where everyone is treated equally and fairly. Equality, diversity and inclusion must be central to everything we do so that each individual can be their "authentic self" and feel valued for their individual contribution.

We must also enhance the accessibility of our environment to provide opportunities for all people in society to engage in parliamentary events, public hearings, programmes and services.

We recognise that this journey will be an ever-evolving one of continuous improvement with challenges to overcome but the promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion concerns all of us. We need all members of the parliamentary community to engage with and take ownership and responsibility to help create a safe and welcoming environment where everyone can contribute on an equal basis while fulfilling and reaching their full potential.
