My Department has continued to advance its key objectives since 22 January 2025 to deliver on its mandate of achieving our climate targets and realising Ireland’s vision of a climate neutral society.

The Programme for Government, Securing Ireland’s Future makes a series of ambitious commitments to secure a better, healthier, and more resilient future for Ireland, while ensuring energy security, affordability, competitiveness and sustainability.

Most notable among these is the continued commitment of this Government to deliver actions to achieve a 51% reduction in emissions from 2018 to 2030 and net-zero emissions no later than 2050. Since the last update I provided to the Deputy on this matter on 15 July 2025, substantive progress has continued to be made across all aspects of my Department’s remit. Achievements of particular note in the context of the Programme for Government are attached. These were provided in response to PQ No. 67817/25 on 2 December 2025.

I hope that the Deputy will appreciate that the attached reflect a high level synopsis of the achievements of my Department but does not reflect the full breath of work done across all aspects of my Department this year.
