SOLAS is the State agency with responsibility for further education and training. The Department sets the overall staffing numbers for SOLAS, which includes the National Apprenticeship Office. It is then the responsibility of SOLAS to manage and allocate these resources effectively.

The approved staffing numbers for SOLAS in 2026 is 276 Full Time Equivalent (FTE), an increase from 261 FTE in 2025.
