The Department of the Taoiseach purchases advertising through a Media Strategy, Planning and Buying service, procured through an Office of Government Procurement Framework.

The table below details expenditure incurred by the Department of the Taoiseach on social media and online advertising from 2016 to 2025.

The expenditure was on a range of online platforms including major platforms.

Expenditure levels in the years 2020 and 2021 were atypical and were related to the COVID-19 public information campaign.

The figure provided for 2025 includes €17,681 in expenditure on social media and online advertising related to the COVID-19 Evaluation, which operates independently of the Department of the Taoiseach but is funded from the Department’s Vote.
