Coast Guard Volunteers play a vital and invaluable role in the Irish Coast Guard’s national response capacity. HR-related issues within Coast Guard Units are rare, with minimal numbers engaged in a process. Where such matters do arise, the Irish Coast Guard is committed to addressing them fairly, consistently and in a timely manner. A range of supports are employed to facilitate effective resolution, including mediation where interpersonal issues are identified.

The Irish Coast Guard places a strong emphasis on developing people management capability within Coast Guard Units. Robust HR training is recognised as a core component of leadership development, and dedicated people management training is therefore provided to support effective leadership and communication.
