15. Deputy Emer Currie asked the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment to provide details of the number of legal actions against his Department that have been resolved without going to court in line with the 2023 State Litigation Principles; if his Department is fully applying the State Litigation Principles in seeking to resolve any current or outstanding legal actions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The information sought in the Question is being complied by my officials and will be forwarded to the Deputy in due course.

The following deferred reply was received under Standing Orders.
I requested my officials to conduct a review of the Department’s records to facilitate a response to the Deputy’s question, and the delay in providing same is regretted.
I am advised that the Attorney General through his office and the Office of the Chief State Solicitor, cognizant with the State Litigation Principles, provide legal advice in relation to the conduct of all litigation to which I, the Minister, is a party.
The following number of legal actions have been resolved via settlement by my Department from 2023 to date:
