Dual use and military items are export controlled in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2021/821 as administered by the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment as the national competent authority in this regard. All defensive equipment, including weapons and munitions, purchased by my Department for the Defence Forces are subject to rigorous controls in accordance with these EU regulations, as applicable to military items defined by the EU Common Military List. I am advised that all weapons acquired for the Defence Forces are classified as military use only in the context of these controls.
