The Deputy may be aware that my Department contacted his office to seek a definition of the term “staff that are currently inactively employed” in the context of this Question. As it has not been possible to obtain such a clarification, for the purposes of this reply the term has been taken to mean staff who are currently on a career break. This information in respect of my Department and the bodies under its aegis, as of 5 May 2026, is set out in the table below.
