The current measures comprise of a VAT inclusive reduction in Mineral Oil Tax for diesel and petrol, as well as a reduction in the National Oil Reserve Agency (NORA) levy of 2 cents per litre.

I am advised by Revenue that the estimated full-year cost to the Exchequer of maintaining the current Mineral Oil Tax (MOT) reductions of 30 cents per litre for diesel and 25 cents per litre for petrol and the estimated monthly cost of extending these measures beyond their scheduled expiry date are shown in the following table.

I am advised by the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment that the reduction in the NORA levy for a one-month period is estimated to result in a reduction of levy income accruing to NORA of approximately €10 million. I note that the NORA does not accrue to the Exchequer and as such this is not an Exchequer cost.
