My Department operates three Border Control Posts (BCP) for plants and plant products, with a total complement of fifteen Agricultural Inspectors carrying out import controls. One officer is assigned to Dublin Airport BCP on a full-time basis. Where that officer is unavailable to attend the airport BCP due to training, leave, or other operational requirements, appropriate contingency arrangements are implemented to ensure continuity of service. In such instances, inspection duties are undertaken by suitably authorised members of the wider team of Agricultural Inspectors, thereby ensuring that the BCP remains appropriately staffed and operational during business hours.
