International Congress of Parliamentary Women's Caucuses 2018
The Irish Women's Parliamentary Caucus hosted the first International Congress of Parliamentary Women's Caucuses in September 2018 in Dublin Castle, Ireland.
The conference brought together female parliamentarians from more than 40 countries to discuss issues facing women and how parliamentarians can work to address them.
Centenary of Votes for Women
In 2018, the Houses of the Oireachtas commemorated the centenary of the parliamentary vote for women in Ireland.
1918 was the first time Irish women were permitted by law to vote and stand in parliamentary elections. In the same year, Countess de Markievicz became the first woman to win a seat in a parliamentary election in Ireland.
