Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Education and Youth if she or any of her officials have used artificial intelligence to write speeches, produce social media content for her Department, or to issue responses to parliamentary questions, since she took office; and if she will make a statement on the matter. View answerAt present, my Department has a limited trial of a generative AI tool currently in progress. The scope of this trial includes using AI to assist with general knowledge-based support tasks, such as, the summarisation of content, proposing responses to general informational queries, searching for and explanation of information.
The tool does not operate autonomously. All outputs are subject to human oversight and are reviewed, verified, and validated by authorised personnel prior to any use.
