The Government have decided to proceed without further delay with the Garden of Remembrance project. I have communicated this decision to the board of the Rotunda Hospital and have requested them to arrange that the site for the Garden of Remembrance be handed over to the Commissioners of Public Works at the earliest possible date. I am advised that it should be possible, given the necessary cooperation, to provide within the next 12 months alternative accommodation in permanent form to replace the temporary hospital units at present occupying the site.
