44. Deputy Jack Chambers asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the status of roadside drug tests, including the number conducted and the number of positive detections, prosecutions and convictions; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16389/16]
Amharc ar fhreagraI understand that the introduction of preliminary roadside drug testing has been provided for in the Road Traffic Bill 2016, which was published earlier this year by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, and which was passed by the Seanad on 26 January. I am advised that this Bill is expected to be introduced in the Dáil at Second Stage in the coming weeks.
