It has not been possible to collate the information requested in the time allowed. I will write to the Deputy directly when the information is to hand.
The following deferred reply was received under Standing Order 51
I refer to Parliamentary Question No. 181 for answer on 1 February 2023, which asked To ask the Minister for Justice the amount spent by his Department on online advertising in each of the past ten years and to date in 2023, in tabular form; if he will provide details in relation to this spending; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
You will recall that at the time, an undertaking was given to seek the information requested and revert to you. With apologies for the delay in issuing a further response, the information requested is provided in the table below.
I am advised that it is not possible to isolate data from our financial records for public information notices to those specifically relating to online advertising only, therefore the costs for notices include traditional media too.
However, the following table provides the information sought insofar as it relates to the costs of public awareness campaigns. There was no digital marketing expenditure for public awareness information campaigns before 2016.
Public information notices typically relate to job advertisements in newspapers, publication of awareness information in Iris Oifigiúil and so on.
Public awareness campaigns, which include since 2016 paid media aspects, include campaigns in relation to domestic, sexual and gender-based violence as required under the Istanbul Convention; an awareness programme regarding the Regularisation of Long Term Undocumented Migrants Scheme which opened for applications on 31 January 2022 and closed on 31 July 2022 and building awareness of the dangers of fireworks.
