694. Deputy Paul McAuliffe asked the Minister for Justice if operational guidance has been issued to An Garda Síochána in relation to implementation of the Road Traffic and Roads Act 2023, in particular the new s.109A of the Road Traffic Act 1961. [40061/23]

I have sought the information requested by the Deputy from An Garda Síochána, and will contact the Deputy again when this is to hand.
The following deferred reply was received under Standing Order 51.
I refer to Parliamentary Question No. 694 of 20 September 2023 where you sought: “To ask the Minister for Justice if operational guidance has been issued to An Garda Síochána in relation to implementation of the Road Traffic and Roads Act 2023, in particular the new s.109A of the Road Traffic Act 1961.”
As you will recall, I had sought the information you requested from the Garda authorities, and undertook to contact you again once the information was to hand.
I am advised by the Garda authorities that An Garda Síochána is awaiting additional regulations to be created and signed by the Minister for Transport. Guidance will be issued to the Garda organisation upon the final regulations being signed by the Minister for Transport.
