Deputy Jackie Cahill asked the Minister for Health if romosozumab, which is used to treat women with severe osteoporosis, is also approved by the EMT for use in Ireland for men with severe osteoporosis (details supplied); if romosozumab is approved by the EMT to be used under medical supervision by a registered consultant in Ireland for a 45-year-old male with severe osteoporosis with a very high risk of bone fracture; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Act 2013, the HSE has statutory responsibility for decisions on the pricing and reimbursement of medicines; therefore, the matter has been referred to the HSE for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
