480. Deputy Johnny Mythen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if the Department will resume and reinstate the quarterly publications of the milk testing results carried out by the processors; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22623/24]

The following deferred reply was received under Standing Order 51.
Following the abolition of the milk quota regime the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine no longer has a function in relation to the testing of milk for constituents like butterfat. This is a commercial matter between the milk purchaser and their supplier. Most milk purchasers have purchasing contracts in place with suppliers which include dispute resolution procedures. Consequently, I have no plans to reinstate the monitoring programme and publication referred to by the Deputy.
