As the national standalone public water utility, Uisce Éireann has statutory responsibility for the provision and maintenance of water meters in Ireland. As such costs relating to the connection or disconnection of water meters is an operational matter for Uisce Éireann.
Customers who are dissatisfied with the arrangements may complain to Uisce Éireann with a right of appeal to the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities (CRU).
