415. Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage the capital works projects under the remit of his Department that received EU funding in 2023 and to date in 2024; and the amount of EU funding that was received for each of those capital works projects in the years in question, in tabular form. The following deferred reply was received under Standing Order 51.
Details of the capital works projects under the remit of my Department that received EU funding in 2023 and to date in 2024; and the amount of EU funding that was received for each of those capital works projects in the years in question are set out in the table below. Under the terms of the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF), as agreed by Government on its establishment, my Department can provide up to a maximum of 75% of a projects costs, with the remaining ‘matched funds’ to be sourced by the sponsoring authority. Accordingly, there is possibly a number of projects supported by the URDF that have also received some level of EU Funding. Details of that EU funding would be a matter for the sponsoring authorities.

[1] The project focuses on restoration works across a range of wetland sites including raised and blanket bog, fens and other wetlands sites including many sites within Ireland’s Natura 2000 network.
[2] The focus of this project is restoration and conservation of a selected list of 12 raised bogs in Ireland.
[3] The project aim is to improve Ireland's performance in conserving habitats, particularly blanket bog, with a focus on 35 blanket bogs project sites in counties Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo and Galway.
[4] The project aim is to deliver a 20% increase on the 2018 population of Corncrake recorded in Ireland.
