Deputy Mark Ward asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science to clarify if an application for the 1916 bursary grant was received for the academic year 2023-2024 for a person (details supplied), and if so, what was the result of this application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe HEA devolves responsibility for the application, selection, and award processes for the 1916 Bursary Fund to the regional clusters of Higher Education Institutions.
The Cluster to which the person the Deputy refers to has confirmed that the application was received but unfortunately was not successful on the grounds of financial income criteria. The outcome of this was conveyed to the person by letter in March 2024 with details of they could appeal the decision.
No appeal was submitted within the timeframe allowed.
