758. Deputy Paul McAuliffe asked the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media for an update on the Royal Canal greenway project; and the support provided by her Department for this project. [35455/24]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy colleague, the Minister for Transport, has overall responsibility for the development of greenways and any request for a detailed update on the overall project should accordingly be directed to that Department. My own role and that of my Department in relation to tourism lies primarily in the area of national tourism policy development and in securing resources to assist the tourism agencies, Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Ireland, in implementing that policy. I understand that Fáilte Ireland has recently approved a grant application through the Just Transition funding process for the installation of interpretative panels along this greenway. Accordingly, I have referred this question to Fáilte Ireland a direct response to the Deputy on that particular aspect.
