162. Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn asked the Minister for Transport for a progress report on the Trans-European Transport Network project for Donegal. [36936/24]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for overall policy and exchequer funding in relation to the National Roads Programme. Under the Roads Acts 1993-2015 and in line with the National Development Plan (NDP), the planning, design and construction of individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in conjunction with the local authorities concerned. This is also subject to the Infrastructure Guidelines and the necessary statutory approvals. In this context, TII is best placed to advise you.
However, I can confirm that this scheme is currently at the Design and Environmental Evaluation stage and a Preliminary Business Case was submitted to the Department for Gate 1 Approval in Principle, in line with the Infrastructure Guidelines. The Government issued Approval in Principal to the project in July and it will now proceed through the statutory processes and the development of a procurement strategy
Noting the above position, I have referred your question to TII for a direct reply updating you regarding the status of this project. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
