266. Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Education the reason a teacher (details supplied) with 20 contract of indefinite duration hours and five substitute hours, has not been paid during the summer for the past two years; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [36042/24]
Amharc ar fhreagraI wish to inform the Deputy that this teacher was employed in a substitute/part-time capacity for the school year 2023/2024. Department of Education Circular 61/2010 specifies the situations where payment is made for the summer months. The teacher has no entitlement to summer payment in 2024.
The teacher has commenced a CID post for the school year 2024/2025 and she will be paid from Sept 2024 to the end of August 2025 which includes payment over all school closure periods.
