575. Deputy Jim O'Callaghan asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science the estimated annual cost to the Exchequer of providing a €250, €500, €750 and €900 placement grant for third level students on mandatory placements. [38900/24]

Work placements are organised at the level of each individual Higher Education Institution (HEI), as part of their programme offerings to be delivered in conjunction with relevant placement providers. The type and duration of work placement required varies by programme. Any remuneration provided for work undertaken while on placement is a matter for the placement provider, and my Department does not have a role in this matter.
