Deputy John McGuinness asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage if the public sector sick leave scheme has been extended to cover those employed in the retained fire service; if the details of the scheme have been circulated to all authorities for implementation; if his Department has received any queries on its implementation from the LGMA; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraLocal Authority Fire services management and the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) have continued to engage with SIPTU representatives following on from a Labour Court hearing and Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) agreement in 2023 with regard to the application of a range of policies and the implementation of fortnightly pay to retained firefighters.
The implementation of all elements of the Public Service sick pay scheme is included in these discussions.
