The Health Service Executive (HSE) Community Audiology Service provides a full range of hearing assessments to children free of charge. This includes screening, assessment, diagnostic and related investigations, treatment, rehabilitation, and devices (including hearing aids and cochlear implants), and referrals to speech and language therapy, and to children’s disability services, if required.

The HSE Community Audiology Services also offer assessment and rehabilitation for adult medical card holders. The services offered include advice on the use of assistive listening devices and the provision, fitting and repairs of appropriate hearing aids.

The estimated full-year cost to recruit one WTE staff grade audiologist is €43.8k.

Podiatry specialises in the management and treatment of disorders affecting the lower limb. Podiatry can significantly improve a person’s quality of life by promoting and maintaining mobility.

The estimated full-year cost to recruit one WTE staff grade podiatrist is €51.4k.

The estimated full-year cost to recruit one WTE senior grade podiatrist is €66.9k.

As the Deputy is aware, my department is working to develop a model for a vaccine damage scheme and officials in the department are working through related policy matters. The development of such a model needs detailed consideration to ensure that it is appropriately designed. Once the model is developed, I will bring it to Cabinet for approval.
