Ceist:1037. Deputy Pa Daly asked the Minister for Justice for an update on the proposal contained within the draft Programme for Government to “expand existing prison capacity by 1,500 spaces”; her views on whether this will be sufficient capacity over the lifetime of this Government; how this increase will be staged; and the additional/alternative measures that were considered in addition to increase prison capacity and or reduce prison overcrowding.
