Ceisteanna (684)

Pearse Doherty

Ceist:

684. Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Health the reason the deaths of babies with congenital anomalies, such as down syndrome or spina bifida, are not included in Maternity Patient Safety Statement reports; how the exclusion of these deaths contribute to transparency and patient safety monitoring; the measures in place to ensure that the full extent of perinatal mortality, including cases involving congenital anomalies, is accurately recorded and used to inform maternity care improvements; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
