Under Article 9 of the 2023 Recast Energy Efficiency Directive, EU Member States are required to achieve an energy savings target either through an Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme (EEOS), alternative measures, or a combination of both. Ireland meets its obligations through a combination of both. Information and guidance on the EEOS can be found on the SEAI website which also includes data on new energy credits achieved for 2023, with 2024 data to be included shortly. Work is currently underway to develop a plan on how best to achieve Ireland's revised targets set out in the Recast Energy Efficiency Directive. This will include a revised EEOS. My Department will provide further detail as part of a stakeholder consultation on the scheme which is to be carried out shortly.
