Deputy Ryan O'Meara asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence if he is aware of the significant delays in the conciliation and arbitration scheme operated by his Department, particularly for applications for acting and substitution allowance payments; the steps he intends to take in addressing those significant delays; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI want to thank the Deputy for his query. I understand that the backlog in processing applications for acting and substitution payments has been addressed. A small number of applications, where there are queries on the details provided, are currently being progressed with Defence Forces management. In addition a number of applications have not yet met the time frame for payment.
Officials are working with Defence Forces colleagues with a view of further streamlining the current process to minimise any delays in payments.
