Deputy James O'Connor asked the Minister for Social Protection the position regarding pension payment to person (details supplied); when payment will issue given that proposed recipient has been waiting for a number of years for Department sign off having reached pension age in early 2023; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Throughout this process they have engaged directly with the person involved and kept him briefed regarding progress.
The process has taken some time because the circumstances are unusual and have raised extremely complex issues that require engagement with a number of external stakeholders and other Government Departments.
My officials have briefed me on the matter, and I am now considering the appropriate next steps to bring the matter to a conclusion.
