Deputy Emer Currie asked the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment to provide a report on the meeting of EU environment Ministers (council) held on 17 June 2025; to outline Ireland’s position on the agenda item: ‘the proposed ban on lead in ammunition and fishing tackle under the reach regulation - information from Czechia, Lithuania and Slovakia’; and if he will make a statement on the matter. This matter was dealt with as an 'AOB' item for information on an ongoing file at the recent meeting of Environment Council in Luxembourg. As an AOB item, it was not open for a broader discussion.

The Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment is leading Ireland's input on the proposal and I understand that as Ireland does not have a final position at this time, we have entered a scrutiny reservation on the text proposal.
