Dáil Éireann Debate, Tuesday - 8 July 2025
472. Deputy Michael Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport whether funding will be granted for those involved in sport not funded by national bodies (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [37329/25]
Amharc ar fhreagraSport Ireland, which is funded by my Department, is the statutory agency with responsibility for planning, leading and coordinating the sustainable development of competitive and recreational sport in Ireland, including the allocation of funding across its various programmes. Sport Ireland does not provide direct funding for clubs or teams as it provides funding to the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) for sport, in this case Basketball Ireland.
My Department has no discretionary funding available to assist in this regard.
