Based on the experience of consortia-led apprenticeships to date, the journey from the inception to the commencement of a new apprenticeship can take approximately two years, although timelines may vary depending on multiple factors such as the nature of the proposal.

Employer-led consortiums proposing a new apprenticeship must follow a 10-step process which is overseen by the National Apprenticeship Office. These steps are not necessarily linear and a number may be taken in parallel. Further information available on apprenticeship.ie.
