Deputy Eoin Ó Broin asked the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration following a ruling from the Civil Service Arbitration Board in May 2025 (details supplied); if he intends to adjust salaries of prison chaplains; if adjustments will be backdated to July 2023; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI can advise the Deputy that the Irish Prison Service has accepted the ruling of the Civil Service Arbitration Board in relation to this matter, including the backdating of pay adjustments.
I am further advised that clarification has been sought from the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation on the implementation of the ruling and a response is now awaited in this regard.
