Section 152 of the Social Welfare (Consolidated Claims, Payments and Control Provisions) Regulations 2007 sets out the amount disregarded from means assessments under the Jobseeker's Allowance scheme and the State Pension (Non-Contributory) from income derived from seaweed harvesting. The amount disregarded is €1,270.

This disregard was last adjusted in the Social Welfare (Consolidated Claims, Payments and Control Provisions) Regulations 2007. This legislation came in to operation on March 29th, 2007.

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) CPI Inflation Calculator calculates the percentage change in CPI between March 2007 and August 2025 at 30.8%.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
