Deputy Mattie McGrath asked the Minister for Health to issue a thorough, transparent investigation into the treatment and legal protection of the 79 babies (details supplied) who were born alive but subsequently died in Ireland after abortion procedures between 2019 and 2022; the medical safeguards in place to ensure that the rights of babies born in Ireland after abortion procedures are respected and upheld; if every baby born alive in Ireland is equally entitled to proper medical care and protection regardless of the circumstances of their birth; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
