Deputy John Connolly asked the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration the number of traffic offences recorded in each Garda division under section 3 of the Road Traffic Act 2006, in each of the years 2022 to 2024, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Section 3 of the Road Traffic Act 2006 prohibits holding a mobile phone while driving a mechanically propelled vehicle in a public place.

I am advised by the Garda authorities that the below table provides a breakdown, by year and Garda Division, of the number of Fixed Charge Notices issued for the offence of driving while holding a mobile phone. The offences are broken down by the year in which the offence was committed.
