Increasing the supply of new homes is critical to alleviating pressures in the housing market – in this regard, supply has increased significantly over the last five years, with more than 157,500 new homes delivered since the beginning of 2020.

Indeed, more than 92,000 new homes were completed in 2022, 2023 and 2024 combined, exceeding the Housing for All target for the period by around 5,200 homes alongside significant potential currently in the delivery pipeline.

New dwelling completions data, disaggregated by Local Authority and by Local Electoral Area, are published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) on a quarterly basis and are available on its website at: https://data.cso.ie/table/NDQ05 (LA) and https://data.cso.ie/table/NDQ09 (LEA).

CSO data show some 1,322 new homes completed in Kildare in the first three quarters of this year, up 37% year-on-year.

The CSO also disaggregates the data at Local Electoral Area level at the above link. In terms of North Kildare, the electoral areas of Maynooth, Celbridge, Naas, Clane and Leixlip have seen a combined 711 new homes completed to end Q3 2025, an increase of 23% on the same period last year.

Government is focused on continuing to increase the national housing stock and ensuring a suitable range of housing, across tenure types, is available to all. The new housing plan Delivering Homes, Building Communities, builds on the foundations laid under Housing for All and aims to deliver a minimum of 300,000 new homes, including record levels of new social homes, an ambitious nationwide Starter Homes Programme and the provision of additional delivery in the areas of Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) and vacant and derelict properties brought back into use, as set out in the Programme for Government.
