129. Deputy Michael Murphy asked the Minister for Transport to publish the latest statistics, as of the most recent reporting date, for the total number of electric vehicles on Irish roads, broken down by, battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and hybrid (non-plug-in) vehicles; and if he will provide historical totals for each category for each year since 2020. Fleet electrification is expected to continue to provide the greatest share of emissions abatement in the short-to-medium term for the transport sector. Over €100m has been allocated in 2025 to support the continued transition to electric vehicles through funding for EV grants and EV charging infrastructure. This underpins the Government’s commitment to making electric vehicles accessible to all.

Latest statistics, as provided by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry for each year since 2020 are outlined below in tabular format.
