Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Education and Youth the action she has taken regarding the number of schools in County Donegal affected by defective concrete blocks, believed to be at least 12; the further action she plans to take; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy may be aware, in June 2025 My Department engaged with a number of schools affected by defective concrete blocks. As part of this engagement it was noted that the Department will take a programme approach to the issue at hand and this will inform the pathway for all affected schools.
My Department plans to conduct a site visit to the affected schools over the coming weeks and some of these visits have already taken place. My Department is aware of the urgent nature of the works required and will keep the school informed throughout the process.
