116. Deputy Malcolm Byrne asked the Minister for Defence if the Defence Forces have powers that would permit them to take down unidentified drones operating in Irish air space and/or in international waters; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [71587/25]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Deputy should be reassured that mechanisms already exist which allow for a Defence Forces response where required, acting in support of An Garda Síochána or in defence of Defence Forces personnel and assets.
The operational judgement of the Defence Forces acting under Government direction applies. As such it would not be appropriate for me to comment further.
